According to Gery Woelfel, the 6-2 guard from Racine Horlick is leaning towards committing to Milwaukee. 2015 recruit averaged 9 PPG as a junior. Apparently had a strong showing in the AAU circuit which raised his visibility.
Woelfel also mentions that D'Angelo Jackson from Racine Case will head to JUCO for a year and go D-1 next year. Wouldn't be surprised to see Milwaukee offer him if his academics are up to snuff.

minor correction: Jackson's going to a prep academy, not a JUCO

Need to replace Steve Mcwhorter. Like to see 6'2" in bio of recruits. The mid majors play a guards game throughout the country.

The more the better, a lineup with 2 guards at or over 6'2" poses more problems for the opponent than not. I hope Jordan has a great career for The Panthers at The Panther.

For all my old school friends (or just old friends), per the article he's a cousin of Robert Berryhill's. Good memories watching him play.

Berryhill was easily the most talented player to come out of Racine since Jim Chones. And no one as talented as Berryhill has come after him. By definition a once in a generation-type player.
Woods is putting together a nice season; he'd be a very nice addition to the Milwaukee program.
McDade: did you go to Horlick?

Our neighborhood would support his teams. Also, my high school Greendale, would run into those tough Racine schools at sectionals. Robert Barnes, Robert Berryhill, Hayes Ford, and Tony Baumgardt were a few of the players from Racine I remember off the top of my head. Also, a friend's uncle was the coach at Kenosha St. Joe's and I remember watching Al Steele play! Good memories. Haven't seen Deantae Woods play (although he put up 24 in the first three quarters against a good Greendale team last week) but after watching the CSU game last night it sounds like UWM could use him.

Hahaha. When watching Haarsma in HS, one word came to mind: Stiff.
Top 5 High School players from there since 1980 - and I'd like to see McDade's take as well:
1. Robert Berryhill (Horlick). Did Jordan things when Jordan was barely doing them. Academics killed his future. State POY in '86. 2. Robert Barnes (Horlick). Probably the only guy who was as close to unstoppable as Berryhill - and they were on the same team. Academics killed his NBA dreams, too. State POY in '84. 3. Caron Butler (Park). Everyone knows his story. 4. Jim McIlvaine (St. Cat's). I hate putting him in here, but he flat-out dominated in high school. State POY in '90. 5. Tim Naegeli (Lutheran). All-American at Stevens Point who played with Terry Porter. Drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1986.

I really only watched Racine high school ball in the 80's so I'm not qualified to judge. I do know that, as a kid, watching Berryhill and Barnes play was like watching the NBA. I never saw Butler, McIlvaine, or Naegeli in play in person in high school. This thread got me thinking about how fortunate I was growing up. Within 6 houses on my block lived the following: *Jon McGlockin of the Bucks - he was my next door neighbor and would shoot hoops with me while a member of the Bucks *Brad Snyder - former team MVP of Northwestern and women's hoops coach at NU *Bob Weingart - long time Marquette trainer, he was on the sidelines when then won the title in '77. I still have my program signed by the entire team and staff that he gave me from that year *Tom Sager - Racine Park coach who is in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame *Dean Derfus - starter on MUHS state championship teams in the early 80's Wow, was I lucky. Now those are some great memories!

I was 8 at the time watching Goodman in person. As a kid, I thought he was amazing. Goodman ended up having a great career at Loyola.
