James Douglas and Ryan Childress officially signed their letters of intent, while insiderhoops.com is reporting that former Pitt signee and Cleveland State player Walter Waters has verballed to UWM. Waters is a 6-10, 270 center out of Detroit and is a current teammate of Douglas' at Schoolcraft Community College. csuvikings.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/waters_walt00.htmlFrom collegehoopsnet.com: "Walter Waters, a beast of a center at 6’10”, 265-pounds, ran a stat line of 45 points, 17 boards, and 12 blocks in a single high school game. He originally committed to Pitt, but then enrolled at Cleveland State. The Detroit native is seeking a grander stage and is now enrolled at Schoolcraft College."

WOW! Great pick up with WATERS! Good enough Pittsburgh is good enough for Milwaukee! ;D Something doesn't add up. Why in the hell would he pick Cleveland State over Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Temple...all of which were still interested in him after he left? His senior year of high school he was ranked as the 8th best center in the nation according to rivals.com. Several publications had him listed as a top 100 pospect. Later, UWMfreak

I hear ya.....wonder what the deal/story is. But then again Rollie was accused of some "sketchy" activity recently, wasn't he? haha Legal disclaimer: I am only kidding, I don't want any lurkers running around saying that I said CSU was a dirty program or anything. Just stating that it is wierd that he picked CSU over some pretty big time schools.........unless no one offered except CSU. It is one thing for a school to send you letters and "be interested", but it is another for them to put something on the table. However, anyway you slice it, he appears to be a great recruit for us. ;D EDIT: Who is he playing against, some third graders? haha Check out that picture.

i'm curious as well why he'd pick clevland state as well. Regardless, with the schools that were interested and the ranking as top 8 center, this is a HUGE deal for UWM. Ford, McCoy, and hopefully W.W. Bruce is really getting size. Hope he commits.

Waters to CSU was a late, fall-in their lap get. He didn't end up getting into Pitt so he was stuck. Garland had some Detroit ties and Waters knew he could play right away there. However...this sounds like another Tony Jones recruit. Waters is a Detroit guy who supposedly loves the style of play here. 6-10, 260 guys with skills dont appear in the Horizon League that often. Nor do guys who were ranked nationally in the top 100 by four different, legit recruiting services. (52 Prepstars, 55 Rivals, 85 Basketball News). UWGB can boast all they want about their Wisconsin kids but UWM is bringing in A LOT more talent in their recruiting class. Its hardly debateable. UWM has one more ride and dont be surprised to see another top 150-200 guy commit. Fans dont need to fret when the see the BG's and Butler's of the world get commitments. Patience is a virtue

I just got done reading a hard copy of a preseason college basketball mag at a local book store. They also featured the top 15 or so JCs in the country. Waters and the other guy from Schoolcraft (his name slips me right now) were mentioned briefly in the article about Schoolcraft being the number 4 JC in the country this year. Neither player was in preseason All JC teams. (which was four teams deep and did include Torre on the fourth team. Torre's Garden City team was ranked somewhere I believe around 12 or so.)

Anyone else feel like this whole WW3 (Waters) guy is too good to be true? Either way I'm still wetting my pants over next season's possibilities.

I'm with ya Fan. Not gonna believe it's true until they're ALL signed on the dotted line. But, that being said, the possibility of having Waters, Douglass, Chidress and Torre Johnson as next year's recruiting class has me giddy.

I'm going to be really cautious and take the "I'll believe it when I see it approach" to WW3...when I see him at Midnight Madness. Torre Johnson would be HUGE. How about a little loyalty to the school that stayed with you through high school??? I know, there is no loyalty in big time sports, but it'd be nice.

P.S. I realize it's ridiculous to expect Torre to come to UWM out of "loyalty." If he has a chance to go play in a major conference then who could blame him for passing that up. Who wouldn't want to play for Florida State, Oklahoma, or the like. I was posting from a rabid UWM fan's point of view.
