Games at Englemann average about 150-200 That's too bad. Attendance used to range from about 350 to 500. I'll attend what games I can if there's a board outing. Keep in mind that everytime ANY Milwaukee Panther team gets in the paper it helps recruitment for ALL sports because it shows we have a solid Athletic Department.

I think the board should rally and attend a couple of games. It would help out the team and show that people are paying attention to UWM athletics. Hopefully the night games bring in some other fans. I think it will, especially if they start strong.

"That means, in sports, post game stories can be up in as little as 15 minutes following games. How cool would that be for fans at UWM games to find in-depth analysis of the game they were just at right when they get home?" Jimmy, are you really expecting Panther fans to be home fifteen minutes after the game. This is Milwaukee, son -- there are a LOT of bars between the Cell and, well, anywhere. Trust me, there are no bars anywhere near this Milwaukee Panther soccer fan. Since getting hooked during the '01 season, I've gone to an average of 5-6 matches a year for 4 years until my deployment last summer, including every NCAA Tourney, UW, and MU game at Englemann. Unfortunately, I now have to miss my second straight season... so I for one would LOVE to see a blog for UWM soccer! Especially since there is really no other way to follow the games the day they happen, since there's no real-time media/internet broadcasts or updates for soccer like there is for basketball. Do it, Jimmy, DO IT! ;D

Yeah I found that site, but it's been a ghost town for quite some time. It'd be cool if it either came back to life or we had some active chats on this board. Regardless I can't wait for marquette's visit to engelmann. I hope UWM tears them a new cornhole.

It's not that difficult to use the "UWM athletics" thread, so I'm not that worried. To be honest, I'm curious how many people actually used that site.
Hey Jimmy I got an OT question for you, since it's more important than ever (now that UWM's 7 seniors are gone) that UWM keeps fans for its basketball games, will there be announcements in the post about midnight madness this fall? It'd be nice to see a repeat of 1500 fans or more this year. I can't wait just cuz I want to see how good these new freshmen are.

I've got some ideas for chants, songs and other stuff for soccer games for those who are interested... I have no idea whether or not it's any good. We should definetely get together before the season and talk about what we could do. Creativity is the key.
Well... I guess a boost in attendance would be the other key.

JIMMY-check your facts: www.ncaa.org/stats/m_soccer/1/attendance/index.htmlWe averaged 727 Fans last year which was good for #37 overall in the nation. In 2004, we averaged 516 In 2003, we averaged 790 I was at every soccer home game last season, and there was never under 200 for any game, including the exhibitions!! We ranked in the Top 50 (#37) in the nation for Men's Soccer attendance for the third consecutive year last year, and with the addition of lights, we could realistically rank in the Top 10 or 15 in attendance. Student support is a major factor, and students get in free unlinke many of the other top soccer programs in the nation. Get the student, faculty, and alumni support and we're easily in the top 20 with our schedule and the games under the lights. BTW - Marquette game should obviously break attendance records!!

Found this site and spruced it up a bit using info from the UWM athletics site... ncaawiki.com/index.php/MilwaukeeIt's quite the handy compilation of data on our men's basketball, baseball, and soccer programs.

Oh, I wasn't stating fact, just what I saw eyeballing it from the last couple years.
Those numbers sound inflated, but I'm no attendance expert. I remember the Horizon League Championship this year, that number was inflated, most of the seats in several sections were empty.

Jimmy which HL championship game are you talking about? The one I attended had some empty seats in the top sections on the north and south side of the cell emtpy but no way were most of the seats in those sections vacant. Not to mention that almost every other section was packed solid. And some of those seats on the South side could have been held by Students who were packed into the risers below.
Perhaps you're not the best person to judge attendance Jimmy ;D
