While I am as disappointed as everyone else, I have stayed out of this until now because it's too easy just to vent, which generally isn't very helpful.
Here's how I see it. 1) I am terribly disappointed for the guys on the team next year who didn't cause the problem. They deserve better, but I know they are a tough bunch of kids and they will get through this together. 2) I'm also disappointed, in a very different way, in the guys who didn't finish or didn't maintain good academic standing in the past that put us here. They have to take personal responsibility for that. 3) Nevertheless, the adults in the room have to own this. The coaches have an absolute obligation to recruit capable students who have both the intelligence and the personal character to stay eligible and graduate, and they have to stay close enough to those players to make sure they get it done. I understand that these things are not always easy, but they are part of the job. 4) Having said that, we are a school that needs to provide access to students of all kinds. That's what should define a public, urban University. It's okay to take some chances. Every school does, and some of those chances will seize the opportunity and come out with a degree. But it is incumbent on the coaches to make sure that they are not taking so many chances that we can find ourselves in this situation. 5) For too long, the University and the athletic administration did not do as good a job as they needed to do of supporting and demanding better compliance with the principle above, and of supporting the student athletes. 6) Those problems have been and are being addressed. Don't lose sight of the fact that this is a penalty for past failings, NOT an indictment of where things are today. 7) As disappointing as this penalty is, it confirms that at UWM nobody is cooking the books to keep players eligible. We should be proud of that. 8) The Athletic Department is not "in disarray." That is completely wrong. We have survived some poor choices in the top position and we have a great group of people in our department. We may face more challenges than most D1 schools of our size, but the future is still bright.
This much I will tell you. The LAST thing I'm going to do is feel sorry for MYSELF and therefore not support our team next year. I can't wait for next season to start. I'll be there every game supporting these kids. This is another challenge to meet. Let's meet it.

This has been tough on me and i know its probably been tough on everybody else on here. I know i made the mistake this morning of letting my emotions get the better of me. So I apologize to everybody.

This is not the end of the world. I feel sorry for the seniors who miss out on tourney action but they will never forget this past season. One can talk all day and night about the NCAA rules and hypocrisy of the the so called renegade programs like Kentucky, Kansas, etc.. Unfortunately rules are rules and Milwaukee gets the short end of the stick. Milwaukee won't ever attract lottery picks and must use other means to remain competitive. From what I see Jeter has finally figured it out. Bringing in kids like Ariens, Wichman, White, Tiby, et al will create the environment for winning and academic excellence. Should Jeter be released after his contract expires, time will tell. I personally have purchased an additional season ticket and look forward to watching next years team win the regular season championship. Call me naive.

There have been a lot of recent posts that have been very positive. I should let this issue go . But, I'm not. Jeter and his staff are there to win basketball games. But, that is not their only responsibility. There job also is to get across the idea that there is life after basketball. In late '81 the Washington Post printed an article on the 10Th anniversary of the '71 all met basketball team. Few of those members used basketball to better their lives. One of the all met team , of course, was Adrian Dantley who is in the HOF in Springfield. If it hadn't been for Dantley the player of the year would probably have been Charles "Jitty" Campbell, who at the time of the '81 article was in jail on drug related articles. He was later murdered in the streets of SE DC, I am not disavowing individual responsibility. But, MAYBE, whatever causes these "gong games" is also reflected in the 908 APR. Let's move on. Let's try something different. Let someone else head up the Milwaaukee Basketball program, and see if we can upgrade both the Basketball resultsd and the Basketball players academic performances.

Let's hang together through these trying times, win the 2014-15 regular-season championship and roll into 2015-16 with an upperclassmen-laden lineup of Matt, Austin, Akeem, Cody, Trinson, J.J. and J.R.

Who is the boxer shown. Looks a little like Pittsburgh's Billy Conn. But I don't think it is him.

Who will be our "veteran" PG in '15-'16? I can take owning up (unlike many BCS schools) to our team's academic mistakes/transfers over the years who may not have matriculated.
And this MILWAUKEE PANTHER team is still strong. But if next season is Steve-O's last? Who is in the passenger seat for PG? I guess we will have to hope to find another Kaylon Williams or else hope Lyle, Springs (was he a PG at NIU?), or somebody can man the point like a Chris Hill/Rick Franklin/K-Dub/McWhorter in '15-'16.
I know it's the nature of the beast and thank God that we do play by the rules.... but- who will be our PG after McWhorter? I haven't heard any potential Panther PG recruiting news for a long time.... Something has to be in the pipeline. Man, I wish we would not have gotten this ban- McWhorter and Richard deserve another shot at the NCAA's or one at the NIT.
But as always.... I digress. Who is our PG after next season? On a semi-related note, what happened to Nafis Ricks? It seemed like he did pretty decent at Missouri St. but I don't recall him being stand-out like Jay-O was this season (the Nova game was am inevitable return to the mean..... and Jay-O is not a PG).
Who will our PG be after Steve McWhorter???.... That's my main concern. Malone-Mitchell? Jordan Perez? J.R. Lyle? A JuCo transfer? Who?
.....2015 Postseason be damned... GO PANTHERS!!!!

I feel real sorry for the ticket office. They already have a tough job trying trying to get fans to the Cell. All the good that was built up, is all but gone and killed by the media.

Prior to the APR ban news, the ticket office was eliminating the 2 for $99 deal. I wonder if that will be offered again with what is known now. I can't imagine the casual fan (which was small anyway) is willing to pony up for a team with no postseason chance.

Maybe, we can sing that at the Cell next year.

It was still available for last year's season. On the renewal forms that were mailed out last week, it said the 2 for $99 will not be offered for next season.
