did the Bogas and McCallum leave in bad academic standing? that's the only way it'd affect the APR negatively I don't believe so but in these cases, its more about players being on scholarship at ONE point not graduating from your university. where did you read that? from everything i've ever read, if a player leaves your school in good academic standing it has no negative consequences on your APR...that's why kentucky isn't perma-banned from the postseason

Because that's what makes up the APR is that whenever students on scholarship transfer, they aren't graduating from your university, so it impacts your score.
When Kentucky athletes go pro, they are only on the lineup for one year and aren't going to another university, so it doesn't really impact the APR, especially if the school manages their APR around athletes going pro.

That doesn't sound correct based on the university's answers to FAQ's. According to that a team loses points for scholarship players who LEAVE at the end of the semester and are not in good academic standing or not academically eligible. Doesn't sound like they're penalized if a player leaves in good academic standing.

With last year's score, here is the 4 year average.
2012-13 - 908 2011-12 - 941 2010-11 - 941 2009-10 - 926
Total = 3716/4 = 929.....so according to the guidelines for next year, Milwaukee is banned because the average of 929 for last 4 years is ONE FRREAKING SPOT below the line of 930 over 4 years. The program is being punished because a couple of players in their third seasons with the program were on scholarship and decided to be closer to home/find a better fit or basically be like any normal student that transfers (I had 2 friends that transferred to Green Bay with a year and a half left because they wanted to be closer to home/better fit...but oh they weren't athletes so no harm there....).

I don't know if those guys were academically in trouble or not although we do know that Deonte Roberts had academic problems and couldn't play because of it. So they never got to that point at Milwaukee but I don't know what the case was.
Whatever the case may be, it seems really, really stupid to punish a program because student-athletes that may be struggling academically decide to leave/quit the team to focus on those academics when regular students face academic problems all the time without impacting anyone other than themselves (I should know, I was on academic probation during my 4th year because of struggling academically my 3rd year).

So how exactly do the transfer rules now work in regard to current players who MIGHT decide to leave. Rumor has it that some coaches from other schools are already contacting our players. Who is eligible to transfer without having to sit out a year?
Man.. this just adds to the potential fall out from this. And it's only been two hours. I honestly feel like I've been kicked square in the nuts.
