I guess I don't really know how APR is calculated, but if it's based off a three year average and 2012-13 lowered it from 941 to 908, it seems very unlikely that the Panthers will be eligible for the postseason for the next three years, correct? Or is it a weighted average? They would have to have a huge year this season (2013-14) academically to raise the APR over 925 for 2015-16.

I assume the athletic department had an idea this was coming. The fast renewal forms, the thank you cards to season ticket holders, the non-refundable $25 up front to save season tickets, etc.
If they knew this and still went ahead with all that, there is a massive problem there.

From Lutzow's link:
"For 2014-15 championships, teams must earn a 930 four-year average APR or a 940 average over the most recent two years to participate in championships."
They averaged 941 in 2010-11 and 2011-12 before the 908 in 2012-13.....I think that wording should apply to Milwaukee's case then.

Based on that link, they would need to have a score of 1014 next year to meet the four year rolling average of 930. Based on looking at the scores of all the other schools, I don't even think that's possible which I would think means they'll be banned in 2015-16 as well. So p*ssed off right now. Somebody needs to lose his/her job over this! This is a disaster!

Nope... 941 - 2013-14 908 - 2012-13 941 - 2011-12 941 - 2010-11 Equals 3731 divided 4 = average of 932.75, back above the eligibility line. No one transferred out after last year that was on scholarship. This is from Shaq Boga, Lonnie Boga and Ja'Rob McCallum all leaving after 2011-12. This is why the NCAA APR system is extremely flawed. Schools are PENALIZED for athletes deciding to be closer to home etc, but if regular students decide to transfer, no one is impacted. Why are student-athletes punished for something regular students do all the freaking time? If I'm the University...screw the denied NCAA appeal, I take this issue higher up. This issue NEEDS to be addressed.

did the Bogas and McCallum leave in bad academic standing? that's the only way it'd affect the APR negatively

This issue NEEDS to be addressed. Is 908 the 2013-14 score or the four-year rolling average? The article on OnMilwaukee.com states, "...the current four-year 2012-13 cycle was 908, falling below the mandated minimum of 930...". If 908 was last year's score, it isn't as bad (but still bad), but that's not what it sounds like in the article.

From what i saw uwm denied the appeal Whose appeal? That athletics wanted to appeal it but the university said no? If that's the case, the university needs to be called out on their lack of support towards athletics on ALL fronts.

If 908 was last year's score, it isn't as bad (but still bad), but that's not what it sounds like in the article. 908 is last year's (2012-13) four-year average score mainly because of the transfers of scholarship athletes Lonnie Boga, Shaq Boga and Ja'Rob McCallum the year before. Had those guys not transferred or if the NCAA didn't actually penalize schools for student-athletes deciding to transfer elsewhere, which is something every non-athlete student can do with no penalty, then Milwaukee would still be around 941 which is NOT bad at all even with the new bottom line at 930.

From what i saw uwm denied the appeal Whose appeal? That athletics wanted to appeal it but the university said no? . Could someone clarify this? Who denied the appeal? But of course this would happen to UWM hoops. It's the exact opposite of what one would expect following a run to the post season.
