www.uwmpanthers.com/sports/w-swim/recaps/032214aaa.htmlEmily capped off a spectacular swimming career for the Panthers this weekend at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis where she gained First-Team All-American honors in two different events. She finished 2nd in the 100 yard breaststroke, and her time is 3rd best ALL-TIME in the WORLD. The 1st and 2nd fastest times belong to Texas A&M's Breeja Larson, an Olympian, who finished 1st Friday evening. Congrats to Emily on a tremendous collegiate career, she definitely makes a compelling argument for being the most decorated athlete in Milwaukee Panther history. BTW, Prior to 2006, the Milwaukee Panthers had only had ONE athlete become a First-Team All-American in ANY sport (Manny Lagos, Men's Soccer, 1990). Since 2006, the Panthers have had FOUR athletes, including 2 this year alone! Mike Goetz, Baseball, 2006. Sarah Hagen, Women's Soccer, 2010. Laurie Bell, Men's Soccer, 2013. Emily McClellan, Women's Swimming & Diving, 2014 (in 2 DIFFERENT events). Not too shabby for an athletics program that's been in "disarray" during much of the last 8 years. Here is a great photo posted by the MKEPanthers Twitter account:
