Austin will be the best player in the league when he's a senior. Oh jeez. Congrats to Coach Jeter and team for a great end to the season and for representing the university with class, dignity and a competitive spirit. Let's hope they can build on this, make it back next season a little more seasoned and make some noise!

Let's hope they can build on this, make it back next season a little more seasoned and make some noise! Totally agree, JG. As for returning next year more seasoned, that all begins with a more rugged non-conference schedule. Let's eliminate the Judsons, Hillsdales and Marys from the schedule and get some more 'Novas, Georgetowns and Xaviers. There's no better way to replicate the kind of length and speed a team faces in the NCAA tournament than to play NCAA tournament teams when the schedule allows in November and December. Can we please get into the Old Spice Classic, 76 Classic, Battle 4 Atlantis, Diamond Head Classic or something?

Like others have said, Villanova's speed and quickness on defense was simply nothing seen in any other game this season. Combined with 1-15 from Aaron, it's a small miracle this team was hanging around with 5 minutes left.
I don't know what Steve McWhorter's plans are this offseason, but taking 500 jump shots a day would be a good start. This team needs much better production from that position than was shown this year.

The refs were fine. The shooting was not. To me, Nova's speed on defense was huge. Their ability to close and swarm was something we haven't seen all year. More JJ please. Some of our players weren't ready for that stage. Speed and length. Blocked shot after blocked shot, sticks in your mind for that next shot you take. I'm rooting hard for JJ. Hope his summer is scheduled out like this: 7AM Get up. Run Weights Hoops Lunch Run/More conditioning Hoops Dinner Hoops 9PM Bed Repeat all summer. (Or something to that effect. I have no personal training experience.)

Austin will be the best player in the league when he's a senior. His tendency for deep threes tonight wasn't ideal, but as a 50/40/80 shooter with ideal wing size it was good to see him decide to take up the responsibility of keeping the team in the game. His work around the basket is great, he can defend and finish, and his 3-point shot is ideal. All he needs is a handle and he can be great. This is going to sound crazy, but Austin reminded me of a slightly smaller Gordon Hayward this entire game! Minus the ball-handling ability of course. But then again, how many players the size of Hayward were PG's through HS?

I'm happy to see that expectations are solidly in check around here.

Hey, it was only ONE GAME that he made me think of Hayward, LOL. It probly didn't help that not one other starter could hit the broad side of a barn!
