Neither would have stayed even with better facilities. Pearl left for the SEC, and Bo to the Big Ten. Can anyone with a straight say they were bad decisions?? Really? Better facilities will help in recruiting, but ultimately we must get back to winning ways. And it would help quite alot having some stability at the top of the AD. That hopefully has been taken care of now. All we can hope for is that the team improves next year, and see where things go. I am skeptical, but hoping that some of these recruits start to pan out.

I'm still in the Steve Showalter camp.
There's really nothing to discuss as it relates to the actual team this year. At least this is fun to discuss.

Steve Showalter? That's the funniest joke I've heard in years.

Steve Showalter? That's the funniest joke I've heard in years. A joke that he wouldn't want the job, or a joke he isn't qualified? Because the latter is most certainly not the case.

So we're supposed to believe that a guy who coaches at a local suburban high school is more qualified to lead a Division 1 college program over hundreds of D-II and D-III head coaches or D-! assistants? Surely you jest...

Again: are you saying he's unqualified? If so, I'd love to see the argument.

Shouldn't you be the one supplying the evidence that he's qualified? All you have floated is the name thus far. Back it up.

Easily the most successful coach in Wisconsin high school basketball in decades. Has coached several D1 players. Plugged in to the coaching community, which is essential for recruiting. Exciting, up-tempo style of basketball, which this program is sorely lacking. But I guess in your mind this is all irrelevant because he didn't spend five years as an assistant at Prarie View A&M.

Interesting discussion.
Essentially, the answer to this riddle all lies in what Amanda and the two Davids want and what the university allows.
Unlike a few years ago, the buyout is not outrageously prohibitive.

I do find it mostly irrelevant. He has screwed Milwaukee over on every Germantown recruit Jeter has ever pursued. That alone would keep me from giving him the keys to this program. Also, there are two fantastic coaches in the WIAC that I would look to first that are multiple NATIONAL champions, not just high school champs. Pat Miller at Whitewater and Bob Semling at Stevens Point are far higher in the pecking order than Showalter, in my opinion, as far as in-state candidates.

Mind you, all of this is hot air between us because Rob isn't going anywhere, nor do I necessarily believe he should.

That's a pretty interesting accusation of screwing over Milwaukee with every recruit. Please elaborate.
Averkamp went to a school with a medical program. Fischer is too good to play at this level. Showalter's oldest is on scholarship at the #4 team in the country. The only one would be Lamonte Bearden and he is starting as a freshman at Buffalo under Bobby Hurley. I guess you could consider the bad Showalter (Jake) and Weisenberg, but they don't move the needle at all.
