Five minutes into tonight's game, I've noticed two things: both teams are on pace for 80, and more Bradley fans are here than Panther fans.
Update: 18 minutes: the Panthers opened a 10 point lead, then Bradley tighten their defense and cut the lead in half. A late Panther flurry pushed the lead back to12. Score at half: Panthers 42 - Bradley 32.
18 fouls called in the first half, 10 on the Panthers.
8 minutes into the second half, Bradley's pressure defense is working better and the game is down to 63-57.
10 fouls called on the Panthers to 5 on Bradley.
4:32 tie game at 74.
Bradley takes the lead with 3 minutes.
8.6 seconds, Bradley 85, Milwaukee 84.

And Ashley Green fouls out, so ARod puts the team on her back.
Tied at 99 with 58 seconds in OT.

116-112. Panthers in Double OT.
I have NEVER attended a game like this one.
This game represents a step forward for the Panthers. In recent years, the Panthers did not demonstrate the tenacity in a close game that they displayed tonight.
Previous Panther squads lost some close games because they weren't able to make enough plays at the end to tie or take the lead of a game. i didn't think it likely that the Panthers would manage to tie the game at the end of regulation, but they did. And they pulled out the victory even though Ashley Green fouled out.
i am very encouraged by this team.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTikQJZqelY&feature=youtu.beVideo of the shot. Emily Decorah was actually quite close to committing a line violation on the inbounds pass. Green just had her feet behind the 3 point line when she released the ball. Crazy shot. Crazy game. That is a top-10 moment/game for this athletics program for this decade to say the least. Def. one of the best games in the women's basketball program history. So glad I was able to witness this game first hand.

Echoes from the victory over Bradley:
The record book rewritten: www.uwmpanthers.com/sports/w-baskbl/recaps/120512aaa.html
Ashley Green on her game-tying three-pointer: www.uwmpanthers.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/121012aac.html
The Panthers got thumped by Toledo on the road. Toledo was off to a 6-1 or 7-1 start going into the game, and it is apparently very hard to beat the Rockets on their home court.
Today, the Panthers lost 94-83 to DePaul (6-3 going into the game) in Chicago. ARod was the top scorer for the Panthers today, with 30 points. She was joined in double figures by Ashley Green and Emily Decorah with 14 points, and Sami Tucker with 13 points.
The Panthers are now 4-6 on the season, with two non-league games left. Last season, the Panthers were 4-7 in all non-league games.
At this point of the season, only Wright State, Green Bay and Detroit in the Horizon League have records above .500.

That Wright State release looks like its from 3/7/2012. Did he get suspended again or is just the wrong date on their release?

The HL release says he was suspended for last night's game, which WSU lost in OT at UIC. I'd guess the League would want to impose the suspension as soon as possible and be done with it; I imagine WSU would feel the same way.
Last night the Panthers played the best half of basketball they've played all season and went into halftime leading by 14. They had just enough in the second half to fend off a determined Valpo team and win by four. On the road, no less.
This is another step forward. I'm not sure whether they will finish with a better league record than last year, but they've been playing much better of late. Next up is Wright State on Saturday afternoon.

The behavior of the Wright State coach is better understood after I watched the Panthers beat the Raiders by 13 yesterday . From what the play-by-play guy said during the HLN coverage of the game, February has been the month from Hell. WSU has yet to win this month; Saturday's loss was their sixth consecutive loss. The Raiders were picked to finish third in the league; they are now tied for last.
The Panthers, on the other hand, managed to move from last to sixth with their third consecutive win. The Panthers best possible finish would be 8-8 in league play, which would require a home win over currently unbeaten Green Bay. Not a likely scenario, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility if the Panthers continue to play together, as they have of late.
I said, early in the season, that the success of the season would depend on how quickly the team adjusted to the new coaching staff. The adjustment took longer than I had hoped for, but it seems to have happened. The Panthers had not won three consecutive games in nearly two seasons, and hadn't beaten Wright State in their last eight games, until yesterday.
The Panthers again had multiple players score in double-figures, led by ARod, who is now the 18th player in WBB history to score 1000 points in her career. Sami Tucker had a double-double, and league-leader Emily Decorah hit five more 3pt shots. Neither half of the game was played as well as were the first halves against Green Bay or Valpo, but the Panthers won comfortably.
The next game will be a tougher test. Loyola has won five straight games (second only to Green Bay), and is 7-5 in the league, tied for third. The Panthers lost to Loyola at home in first half of the league season; I don't know if the Panthers can win on the road on Thursday, but I like their chances much better than I did earlier this season.

Halfway through the quarterfinal tournament game vs. Loyola, neither team has made a 3pt shot. The difference in the game (28-27, LU by one) is that Loyola is 6-6 on free throws and Milwaukee is 5-6.
If you would have told me that the Panthers would trail Loyola on the road by only one at half with Sami Tucker and Ashley Green having scored two points apiece and Angela Rodriguez having no points, i wouldn't have believed you, but that's where the game is.
On the road against Loyola a couple of weeks ago, the Panthers played a close first half, and then lost any control the game when Loyola started the second half on fire. The Panthers wound up losing by 16. We will see if the Panthers have learned enough from history to avoid repeating it.
Update: the Loyola lead is now twelve, but neither team is lighting it up. The difference is that Loyola is now no longer being outrebounded and the Panthers have gone cold. There is still time to turn it around, but the game seems to be slipping away.
i have to wonder, though: why is every team in the Horizon League but the Panthers allowed to use their hands to play defense? The Panthers managed to stay close while the refs were actually calling fouls on Loyola. Once they stopped, Loyola opened their lead.
