Wow it's nice that the women get a shot at Marquette. I think this is as close to playing Marquette as UWM Men's Basketball will get. I don't know about anyone else but I think that this game might be worth going to. I will be just as satisfied when our ladies wipe the floor with the golden eagles as I would if our men ever got a shot to play them.

UWM and Marquette women's teams have been playing each other for years ... rotating home games.
This year it's at the McGuire Center.

Ok, let's be serious here.....UWM loses all-world Maria Viall, have 8 guards on the roster now, and you think they'll compete with MU? There's nothing I'd love to see more than another UWM team kicking some warrior a**, but Kimberly Becker and Nicole Almberg will have a lot of slack to take up. We have three 6'ers, two of which are entering their sophomore campaigns. Too much youth in the middle and noone who can dominate any particular position as Viall, Willhite, Schaffeld, etc. have done in the past.
Unless someone steps up big this year with major contributions from the perimeter and at the point, this is not going to be a banner year for the team.

There are big concerns this year IMO w/o a true star/go-to player in a long time. First it was April Rodman, then Schaffeld, then Wilhite, then Viall. Whether Kimberly Becker or Nicole Almberg can be that type of player remains to be seen. Since Teri Stoltenberg left (or since Allison Klaus left), they've had major trouble with the PG position. Hopefully Aubrey Hampton can shake of the injury and be a servicable point this season. But next year is much more promising, as Meredith Onson will be eligible. One of the best HS players I've seen in this state. uwmpanthers.collegesports.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/090204aaa.html
