Soccer players are asking us to WEAR WHITE to the game tonight (black works too). I'll be there when the gates open at 5:30. Let's try to get a Panther section/area set up so we can stick together. I'm bringing a big "UWM" flag to wave around.

BIG WEEKEND FOR ATHLETICS!!!! We have to set the tone this week, the first weekend with students on campus. I have some pretty big plans to get students to games (both volleyball and soccer). I'm excited. Time to kick it into full gear!

There are so many games this weekend. It should be awesome. Friday is going to be jam packed sports action. I love it.
On another note, are we meeting before friday? I have actually been trying to get people interested in SBGC since i have been up here and i have already found a few people that are interested in boosting student support.

We already have SBGC officers, VP, treasurer and president in place, and we will be handing out flyers in the dorms and talking to students this week about going to games. To become a member of the organization, all you have to do is request to join in the SBGC in orgsync. As far as a meeting, possibly, but not until we hear back about getting the ok to do a few things this weekend.

I can be able to get some handed out this week in the Union, if needed. Also, I have been thinking of getting some flyers started giving students info about the basketball setups, once they are finalized.
Keep us posted!

DM me on twitter once a time for our first meeting is set. As for officer and cabinet positions, is that voted in the spring? I would love to run or however that works for next year. Overall, i am pumped for things to get going now everybody is on campus. Hopefully its a great year for panther athletics and we get student participation up.

Go with Danny and work with the SBGC. If you have ideas, share them and aspects should be included if they're good enough.

BIG WEEKEND FOR ATHLETICS!!!! We have to set the tone this week, the first weekend with students on campus. I have some pretty big plans to get students to games (both volleyball and soccer). I'm excited. Time to kick it into full gear! It will be great to see some student turnout at volleyball matches. The players work really hard and the program has consistently played at a high level. i am sure it would mean a lot to the players to have more than family and friends from high school in the stands.
And sometimes it's embarrassing, as a fan, to see the crowd for the visiting team be louder, if not larger, than the home crowd.
If anyone can come up with some cheers or chants for volleyball, that will be a big step up. i don't think they cover volleyball at summer cheer camps
At times there has been some attempts. i like the U-W-M chant matched to the sequence of dig-set-spike. At times the crowd has gotten into the PA announcer's cry of "Point Panthers" after each score.
Matches on Friday are at 1:30 and 7:00 pm. The AD website currently says students will get free t-shirts at the evening match.
Winning volleyball and free t-shirts...who could pass up that deal?

As far as SBGC positions... I won't lie, it's very skewed at how getting a position works. For one, not many students go to all sporting events. They pick and choose. I promise that will change this year. I've been working hard at coming up with new ways to sell athletics to students. The biggest thing is just being more personable to students when handing out flyers. We've only had about 6 people go to the majority of all sporting events in the past 2/3 years, so those 6 were naturally selected to be the main core of the SBGC. We don't really have voting, because we don't have enough students that care enough to vote, especially if they aren't involved in athletics. I'll be able to explain better when I see you at games this weekend.

I will be making my rounds Thursday night/Friday morning in the dorms to get students to both matches on Friday and Saturday, as well as the Soccer matches on Friday and Sunday. I'm hoping for a big turnout, but volleyball will be tougher to sell than soccer, so I'm happy there is a t-shirt giveaway to help sell the game to students.

I will most likely be able to get a bunch of people from my floor to go. We are the transfer LLC so we have been moved in since sunday and most of them are just dying for anything at all to do. As for getting regular attendance from people, there are a few that i think might but far less big sports fans on my floor than i was expecting. We will see though.
