Panthers start the season with a 1-0 loss in exhibition match vs Michigan State. Home opener vs #24 ranked South Carolina next Friday night at 7pm. Should be a great match to start the season!

Pretty decent weekend for the Panthers Women's Soccer Team. Friday resulted in a 0-0 draw to #24 S. Carolina. Sunday the Panthers took care of St. Bonaventure 4-0 (same score Marquette had against St. Bonaventure Friday). Friday should be a good match up against MU. 8:30pm at Valley Fields.
However, I thought because MU got to host us two years in a row at Valley because Engelmann was under construction in 2010, that we were supposed to play here the following two years (2011 and 2012)

For everyone going to Valley Fields for the games tonight, the soccer players are asking us to wear white to the game.

Defense is really struggling, and the offense isn't positioning itself to score well. This team is talented and things could change, but they're really missing Moynihan and Hagen.

Overall, losing to Marquette 4-0 in women's soccer was sad, sad to see how badly we've turned in one offseason with losing Hagen, Ragalie, Thompson, but more importantly losing Moynihan and Nikolic. To that, I have to say, thank you Rick Costello. You officially torpedoed the best thing we had going in one year on the job. George Koonce may have done some bad things with this program, but Michael Moynihan and David Nikolic were still here when George left. George at least cared about the program, at least what he thought he was doing was going to fix things and make them better. How does losing Moynihan make us better in women's soccer? How does letting Nikolic walk out the door behind him make us better? Costello had the gall to hire Greg Henschel, a guy who has nothing to do with the Black and Gold and essentially did less in D-III than we did in D-I. If you're hiring someone from a lower division, do you not think they need to achieve at least as much or more at that level than the coach they're replacing? He achieved a lot in the men's program - great - but he's coming to coach women's soccer, which is how he should be judged. Two titles in ten years, their first NCAA berth last season? If we were hiring someone out of D-III, they should have found the person with national TITLES on their resume. The Bruce Pearl/Bo Ryan hire.
He killed all the continuity, local pride, good will and passion in our program. By the end of the game, I was contemplating how many games I'd be attending for women's soccer this season. Probably Wisconsin on the 12th and Oklahoma State in October, and the HLT if it's in Milwaukee.
Thanks Costello.
