Here’s an improved model of a football stadium at Riverside Park: An ideal model to base a football specific stadium near campus after is the University of Akron’s football stadium, InfoCision Stadium. The cost of InfoCision Stadium, including the endzone facility: was $61.6 million which was built from 2008-2009. www.gozips.com/athletics/facilities/InfoCisionInfoCision Stadium has 522 club seats, 152 loge seats, and a total of 17 private suites and one presidential suite for the university. The capacity of InfoCision Stadium of 30,000, and the official sellout is 27,881 people. Before: After:

I'm sure the Urban Ecology Center will love their new neighbors.

It's called the URBAN Ecology Center for a reason... it's dedicated to sustaining the environment in ways that are less likely to disrupt progress. If a football stadium at Riverside ever did get the green light, the UEC would probably jump at the chance to help make it the "greenest" stadium in college football.

Just because the UEC has the word Urban in their name doesn't mean they would suport this development.
That being said, when negotiated with the UEC could be a powerful ally/partner for the U in ALL future building developments. With SARUP and UAP (University Architects & Planning), School of Engineering, and the new School of Freshwater Sciences our University should be shooting for high LEED marks in every new building/major renovation on campus.

Agreed. The Urban Ecology Center (UEC) should definitely be sought after as an ally and as a partner. By placing a football stadium near the UEC, it would bring tremendous exposure and generate awareness about the UEC to thousands of fans on each gameday.

Also, the stadium site could be expanded to the row of houses located on Bartlett Ave., north of Park Place. The Gold box depicts the potential expanded land for the stadium site:

No way the city of Milwaukee ill allow those houses to go down for a football stadium. The university has bought and torn down houses for many things before, including athletic fields. What is different now?

The university has bought and torn down houses for many things before, including athletic fields. What is different now? Can someone give me an example of this? In 26+ years of working at UWM, i'm not aware of a single example of the University doing this during that time.
i've been joking about doing this sort of thing to our loudest local critics for years...

Bluntly, I'd be opposed to any location that forces people out of their homes. As plans become more concrete, I wouldn't be opposed to asking. But if someone doesn't accept whatever offer is made, you find another spot.

UWM is not a Land Grant Institution, we do not have the luxury of immediately buying people out of the their properties in the name of expansion. The U can only purchase land from willing sellers.
The U has done this several times in it's history, individual homes were purchased along both Maryland and Cramer Streets. These properties are the current homes of SARUP and the parking lot adjacent to Cunningham Hall.

Even though I'd be ecstatic if plans for a football stadium anywhere got green-lighted, I have to say I'm really not a fan of having a field at Riverside. Not only would parking be a nightmare, but if we think it's bad that we play in what is basically a glorified high school gym, imagine the sh*t we'd catch for playing at an actual high school.
Either Downer Woods or the WPC site would be ideal. Barring that, I'd like to see that area on Lincoln Memorial (near the lake where the two goalposts are) be turned into a site for Panther football.
