That is quite the loss but it's probably for the best for her. This is quite similar to when Kyle Kickert left the men's team to transfer to UIC after Ric Cobb was fired in 1999. Both were Chicago-area natives who went through coaching changes so its understandable.I watched her get lit the hell up by Green Bay at the Kress this season. Totally could not defend the post against anyone. Slow feet, slow reaction time, negligible lateral movement.
The post is much better off without her. The team from my freshman year of 05-06 had 4 better post players - Traci Edwards, Katie Fournier, Kim Wypiczynski and Dana Schultz. Each of them had the offensive tools that Lindfors had, and at least played solid defense.
My guess is she saw the writing on the wall when Jordyn Swan committed.
I saw her play a lot more over the two years. Especially this last year, they struggled when she was on the bench with foul trouble or when she was out for a few games due to injury. Yeah, they lost 21 games but there were differences in a lot of the losses when she was playing vs. when she wasn't. Take what you will with the games vs. Green Bay, the entire team hasn't played very well at all vs. the Phoenix since 05-06. To base an opinion on a few performances where everyone is getting taken to the wood shed by a conference rival doesn't paint the complete picture.
I remember games like the one vs. Toledo in December where the team would be struggling, and she would be keeping the team in the game with her presence down low (a game they fought back to win). She had 49 blocks last year, 4 shy of the single-season UWM record. Right now, they have in the post Danielle Jorgenson (who hasn't played ball in 2 years), the Swopshire twins (who weren't really used as post players), and now Swan (a freshman). From someone who had 80 blocks in two seasons, that is going to be pretty big adjustment for the team. Yeah, she wasn't Traci Edwards but no one was expecting her to be the next Edwards. For a team that struggled to score consistently last year, losing 12.5 points a game, plus 6.4 rebounds a game plus 49 blocks is still going to be quite the adjustment. Although with a new head coach and a new system, that kind of washes it out.
