Again, here's another case where blame is being put on the administration and athletics, when they have not been what's holding up getting lights.
For years this sticking point hasn't been about a lack of desire or willingness by anyone on campus. There are a few residents near the soccer field who have been vocal opponents to this addition, and as many who've been around long enough know, many of these residents are often able to crush many ideas the campus puts forward for change.
Louis and Stan were pushing for years to add lights, and I know from my time on the Athletic Board and beyond that Bud and the administration had been pushing for it.
Again my thoughts here go back to understanding that things aren't always as they seem, and that many have no idea the hoops campus folks have to jump through to make progress happen.

I heard one story of a neighbor east of Downer who was pissed off at the university because once a year, she would try and host a "tea" party for her friends, and they could never find parking around the area because of that darn university. So she lit up her alderman to try and make us go away. ooooooh, this sounds like a whole new line of postings we should create! Ways the folks in the area have pissed you off by their naive ways of thinking. Shoot, given my time around here I can think of a dozen or so right off the top of my head!

At the Full Court Lunch, Bud said he tried hard to get a 7 to 8,000 seat BB court included in the Klotsche Expansion but the U was concerned about the reaction from the neighbors.

Cool - I love night soccer matches. And at such a great and historic field such as Engelmann - it's going to be great.
