So this isn't really related to Milwaukee Baseball....but it def. could be eventually...
Stony Brook is tied with LSU 4-4 in the 12th inning of game one of the Baton Rouge Super Regional when it picks up tomorrow morning (rained out this afternoon). Stony Brook is 50-12-1 with a schedule that looks a lot like Milwaukee's. The Seawolves have wins over Miami, UCF, Kansas and split a series at Minnesota in early March. In fact, they spent their first 12 games of the season on the road. They play at Joe Nathan Field which was funded largely from Rangers pitcher Joe Nathan (used to be called University Field). They are doing it in two phases and when it's all said and done will seat 1,000 spectators, field turf, new scoreboard and new dugouts.
I know its easier said than done to get those type of donations but seriously, if Stony Brook can raise money for major renovations to their baseball stadium and are also working on a new basketball arena at the same time....Milwaukee sure as heck can do it.

Stony Brook to the College World Series by taking 2 of 3 from LSU at Baton Rouge.....this is pretty big for college baseball, especially for teams in the northern US.

The last NE team that went was Maine in 1987. St. John's was the last NY team to go to the CWS in 1980 when they had Frank Viola and John Franco. And of course, Michigan is the last B10 team to go also back in 1980.
No, I didn't know these off the top of my head, its all from what I read on Twitter last night.

My son and I had a great time at the Baseball Fundraiser held at Krueger's Entertainment Center in Menomonee Falls.
Son snagged a nice Milwaukee baseball long sleeve t shirt as a birthday present.
We are thinking about going to one of the weekend games at UIC, either the 23rd or 24th. Is it easy to get to UIC's Les Miller Field?

After the Babseball event at Krueger's, I have decided that of the very modest amount I can afford to give to UWM athletics, I want the majority to go to baseball, and the remainder to go to track. I don't want one cent to go to Men's Basketball.

The good thing, gman, is that you are definitely within your rights to designate where your money goes within the department. I'm glad.
I know many people have moved their giving into the programs that need it. Baseball is definitely one of those programs.

gman it is a very easy drive down to UIC, right off the interstate. Glad you enjoyed the event, it was great being back and catching up with teammates this weekend.

2013 Season Opener today at Las Cruces, NM:
1st game - New Mexico State 4, Milwaukee 3 in 10 innings. 2nd game - Milwaukee 11, New Mexico State 0.
2nd game saw 8 shutout innings for Mike Schneider (had no-hitter through 6 innings, only allowed 3 total hits) and Will Fadness went 3x5 with a grand slam, 5 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a walk for the Panthers. Big win for the Panthers over the defending co-champs of the WAC who made the 2012 NCAA Tournament with a 35-24 overall recording, including a 24-7 mark at home!
