Keys to the game.
1) Hill and Williams must stay on the floor for the Panthers.
2) Work the ball in the inside, Hill can't get the ball enough.
3) Free-throw shooting. Panthers have been poor in the 2nd half of it's last 4 HL games.

Keys to the game?
Tone Boyle and Ja' Rob McCallum were a combined 2 for 15 against Valparaiso on Saturday.
If we could get the Tone from the second Valpo game and the Ja' Rob from the Youngstown State game, the Panthers would be just about impossible to defend.
You know what you're going to get out of Ant, Tony and Kaylon on offense and Ryan on defense, provided they stay out of foul trouble. The real X factors are Tone and Ja' Rob.
Fresh in my mind is an image of Clay taking shot after shot several minutes after the rest of the Panthers had left the court for the first time before the 2003 title game against Butler.
"Believe to achieve."

Great OP by Bill. I want to add something to it. I love the fact that this team is built around a senior from Milwaukee who has grown from an unsure freshman who deferred to all the other players to the vocal and emotional leader of the team who has also become, purely and simply, the best low post player in the league and maybe the most dominating center we have ever had.

The Panthers shot just over 50% in their two contests against Butler this season. We need to take good, high percentage looks down low, and hope that Tone, Tony, and Ja'Robb bring their outside game.
We've won with Ant in foul trouble, but we need him tonight, more than ever, to make good decisions on defense that keep him on the floor. Kaylon too. As he goes, the team goes.

Great post. My story goes like this...my wife and I were season-ticket holders for 4 seasons (starting with Jeter's first year??) Prior to that, we were both students and die-hard's, all the way to Bo's first year here. Last April we moved to the Green Bay area for my job and thus had to let go of our season tickets. Our intent was to make it down for a few weekend games this season, but for a number of reasons, it just didn't work out. I've watched everygame on HL Network online and/or ESPNU and have followed the team as much as possible. Tonight I'll be attending my first game of the season and I couldn't have asked for a better one.
GO PANTHERS!!!

This may be my last home game for a long time. I'm moving to San Diego in the summer for law school this fall--let's get it done tonight Panthers! Have you been practicing? DD & Hack, I have not been practicing as of late. However, a few drinks might take the edge off so I can secure a well-rounded flip without a 1/8 deduction by the judges. That was my best Scott Hamilton reference. ;D

It's not surprising that the two most balanced teams in the HL are playing tonight. Balance is, for this season at least, what separates Milwaukee and Butler from the rest of the HL.
I'd expect Butler will try to force this into a defensive battle. We need strong defense from all players out there to win this game. Unlike other games in which we could have Ryan Allen key on one player and force the ball to lesser players, we cannot do that against this Butler team the way they are currently playing.
I'm psyched, hard to get anything done at work right now. My son and I, who like to think of ourselves as this season's "original" flag wavers (we were waving the Milwaukee flag at both the Carroll and MSOE games) will be there once again with our flag shouting as loud as we can.
GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!

I agree with you gman2, I took a half-a-day from work today just so I didnt have to sit through 8 hours of work thinking about the game. Plus a little pre-partying wont hurt my ability to yell through the entire game.

............................................. I don't know what the attendance will be tomorrow, but I do know that throughout this city, thousands of people, who can't make it, will be listening on their radios and watching on their TV's. They'll cheer every basket we make. They'll groan over every foul called on us. Some of them will look at their own sons and tell them that if they work hard, one day they could be wearing the Black and Gold and have a city rooting for them. No matter what happens tomorrow night, this team has done an incredible service to a community badly in need of a lift. It has sent a needed message that crosses the barriers that so often divide us. Thank you staff, thank you players. You've made more people than you realize proud that you represent them. GO PANTHERS Beautifully written. I read it from beginning to end with goose bumps. I couldn't agree with you more. GO PANTHERS..FIGHT!

Definitely a lot of substance to that post. Just about everyone in Milwaukee remembers the US Bank building lighting up "GO UWM", and the Sweet 16 run had this city heavily invested in the NCAA Tournament, more so than when Marquette made their Final Four run (maybe I'm speaking partially because I lived so close to campus at the time, but I don't think I'm far off). I was in 8th grade when we played Alabama in the first round (Shorewood Intermediate School), and our Dean was coming over the intercom during classes to give us score updates for all those students who were unlucky to not have their teacher already playing the game on the radio (I was one of the lucky ones). The next year my math teacher, a UWM grad, literally just gave an in-class assignment and turned on the UWM-Oklahoma game at blaring volume. I don't think anyone finished the assignment nor did he collect it. Point is as much as I like Marquette basketball and will always root for the team because it's fun to root for a hometown team in the Big East, nothing compares to the Panthers. Marquette is a Chicago school, they come here for their education and then go back where they came from. Unlike UWM which has provided Milwaukee with so many quality working people (especially teachers) who stay in this great city to make their living. I'm sure it's to late, but do you think we can get them to light up the windows at US Bank today.
