I'm just about done with the Rob Jeter era. I just can't watch/listen to this offense anymore. It is extremely painful on the eyes. I'm sure the boys are working hard and I'll show up to a few games this year, but Jeter and his staff have to go. Flame me if you must, but I just can't watch this anymore. I'll give him the rest of the season; but if it's another year where our postseason success is limited to a HL tournament victory, if that, so long Robbie.

Unfortunate that he's playing this way, especially if he's hurting. Question for those in the know or who were around preseason conditioning ... was Eayrs doing the hill? Nope, we was rehabbing from his surgery Thanks.

I'm feeling like there should be a change in the starting line-up. I think Jerard gets replaced by McCallum. While Jerard is a very good and smart defender, his offensive struggles are too great to warrant a starting spot. I think you keep Roberts as a starter because he's a good defender, good rebounder, and is great at finishing around the basket. Have Boga and Souter coming off of the bench and logging a good amount of minutes. We need to make sure either JaRob or Patrick on the floor, because both have the balls to take it into the lane and finish.
Normally I would be very content with tonights loss because we hung in there almost the entire game, and really weren't blown out until the final 5 or so minutes, its probably the best I've ever seen us play Marquette. Marquette is a very talented team, DJO is absolutely insane and Jimmy Butler is the perfect compliment to Lazaar. I'm really disappointed in the starters, I can't help but feel like they were intimidated. It was our seniors last chance at Marquette. Ricky and James really screwed the pooch
Starters score 18, and the bench scores 33.....wow. Good game for Ant. hopefully he can continue this type of play going into the conference season.

My preseason expectation was NIT or bust. I feel a bust coming.

I am also beginning to wonder whether or not we have the right coaching staff. I've defended RJ in the past but this getting ridiculous.
Before the season starts we heard all the usual chatter about how the chemistry is great, we have great recruits, yadda, yadda yadda.
Then the season begins and we fall flat. The D-1 teams we beat, have a combined record of 8 - 22. And 4 of those wins came from one team, Bowling Green. In fact take away Bowling Green and we've beaten three D-1 teams with a really impressive combined record of 4 - 19.
When year after year we're told that we've got good athletes and year after year those athletes fail to perform something is wrong and the blame for that starts at the top. Either the athletes aren't that great or they're not being handled properly (or both).
When I went to my first game last Thursday, I was shocked that many stalwarts who I was used to seeing in our section weren't there anymore. I'm not saying that RJ should go (not yet at least) but another substandard year may be the final straw for a lot of us. How much more of this can this program take?
It's time he started producing like the highest paid coach in the HL that he is.

Ricky got kicked in the stones and poked in the eye at tonight's game. That's kind of how I felt as I left the Bradley Center. It's not that this outcome wasn't expected; it was. It's that the players who have been sold to us as useful, breakthrough players -- with me as a willing accomplice -- have barely done squat the whole season. I feel for Ricky, as he just seems to have been born under a bad sign, and Big James, whose knee is limiting him so much that he practices in the pool. When a team gets 18 lousy points from its designated starters, it should never expect to win a game. Ever. At least not a basketball game. Maybe indoor soccer or rugby is their sport. I just read a number of strong observations posted as the game unfolded, and they reinforced my opinion that something should already have been done with the starting five. I could see a lineup of Hill, Eayrs, McCallum, Boga and Franklin or, if James is hurting as badly as it appears, even Hill, Averkamp, McCallum, Boga and Franklin. The current group is going nowhere fast and it's time for a shakeup. Jerard, Deonte and Tony can serve as reserves with Riley, Pat and the rest.

You're absolutely right jpanther03! Watching this offense is like having a tooth pulled. Other than Jeter's first year using Pearl's system, this offense has been pathetic and he seems unwilling to change!
If there is no postseason this year, it's time for this staff to go before this program disappears due to lack of interest!

I know others have already alluded to this but I feel compelled once again to re-post the following from last season (Yes, I saved it, and I will continue to post it whenever people start with "Jeter is on shaky ground if he has a bad year" chatter):
"I hope that as a program we have turned the corner and that we are looking at a successful season that will end any of this negative discussion, but just so we’re all clear, Rob Jeter will not be “ousted” after this season. Rob Jeter will not be “ousted” after next season. Or the one after that. Or the one after that. You can call for it but it’s not going to happen. Garry Howard can say Jeter “needs” to do something this season but Jeter doesn’t.
Without regard to his performance or whether or not he SHOULD be ousted in the next couple of years (I’ll leave that to others to debate), his contract runs through 2013. He is earning a lot of money, at least $400,000 as far as I can see, according to an article in USA today from March of last year. Others may correct me or clarify the amount of Jeter’s compensation but the fact remains he is making a lot of money for a program of our size.
That amount will surely climb in the next couple of years. Because of his success in his first season and the interest from Iowa State, Jeter received a very a lucrative extension with generous annual raises included. That’s fine that we could compete with ISU for his services and it was great that we have some generous donors that stepped up and made that possible (as they did with Bruce Pearl’s extension). I just can’t see a scenario where UWM will eat THAT contract and turn around and ask those same donors to pony up more big money to attract another coach for similar financial terms. We have some very generous, committed boosters but not that many and none in the T. Boone Picken's league.
I think the only way Rob Jeter will be going anywhere in the next four years, short of some incredible scandal, will be if he enjoys phenomenal success in the next year or two and is wooed away by a big money school-- ala Bruce Pearl to Tennessee. So any discussion or articles implying that this is a “make or break” year for Jeter or that he “needs” to do anything are, in my opinion, simply not accurate for a very simple and obvious reason. Money."

Frankly only a couple things totally distressed me about the game last night:
<Guard play expecially from experienced guys like Franklin and Roberts was inexcusable. I know Marquette is quick and all taht but the turnovers were ridiculous. Some of the instances where Rick, Jerard and especially Deonte dribbled into traffic with their heads down or out of control... well...I hate to call kids stupid but...I can excuse McCallcum, Souter and Boga but come on... Deonte Roberts was horrible...
<Why did Earys NEVER post down low?? Always out at 3 land..that is poor coaching to me unless he was hurt...and could not for some reason...
<We did not get through screens well and sagged too much giving them some too easy shots...
The positives....IF we were more careful with the ball it could/would have been a respectable game..Anthony and Kamp really played well and I liked JaRob's energy... I am excited about Boga, McCallum, Souter and Kelm, Leek and Richard... don't want to say wait til next year but....I think we will be lucky to be above .500 this year which is dissapointing even though I think watching the team despite all this we are better....

Frankly a LOT more upset and concerned not defending our Home Court against a lousy Loyola team that UW GB blew out the game before and on top of lackluster UIC game....than losing to Marquette

I'll tell you what's most concerning: they ran the high-low with Franklin and Eayrs exactly ONCE last night. And guess what? It worked!
I'm now beyond the point of really caring what recruits get brought in. We had some guys playing yesterday who were good enough to at least take Marquette down to the wire. While the talent level isn't where it should be overall, there are some pieces to work with. They're not being used properly, and last night crystallized that.
I wonder what George Koonce thought of last night's performance.

Finally, people are starting to realize the truth. I've been saying it since he got here. This year we run a three guard offense and none of them are really that good of shooters. How can anyone in their right mind continually put this lineup on the floor without any accountability. What happened to Hill, a kid who showed vast improvement over his feshman year and is barely getting minutes. But yet we put players on the court who really have done nothing. I've been asking around about Porte but no one seems to know what/where he is MIA and it is the best kept secret since sliced bread. UWM gave Jeter his chance and now it is time to move on. I for on like to watch a winning team but even if they don't win I wouldn't mind seeing a good team loose and we have neither. Going into saturday night agains Loyola our RPI was well over 300 and Loyola was around 47. No wonder y we were 6-2 going into saturday night.
