I made it a point to count how many players saw the floor in the first half on saturday and the number was 11. Actually, I counted too and it was 12.

I'll agree with Skinner. He was a JUCO transfer, who are supposed to be ready-made, but that's fair I suppose. Impressive list. The coaching staff didn't even know what they had in Skinner untill Torre Johnson got suspended and Tim Flowers/Kevin Johnson left the team. Check his minutes prior to their leaving. He was lucky to see the floor for even 2 minutes. Kevin Massiah...nope Tyrone Young...nope Kaylan Anderson...nope Ricky Franklin was City Conference player of the year and people want him to lose time to freshman Please name me a player because I really don't see one.

I was not to happy with the performance last night, but then again nobody was! I could not beleive the lack of killer instinct on this team last night. Eayrs is now "Big Slumber" in my book because he has been sleepwalking through games. No post up from this team all night, and everyone looked afraid to shoot. Things better improve quickly or this season could go down the tank fast. This team is really missing Boyle alot, and we need someone to step up. Ajami in my view is just brutal to watch. There is a reason he was playing D2...........

It really is a red flag period when walk-ons manage so much PT, let alone are starting. Its always great when a walk-on contributes or manages to "earn" a scholarship. But you dont see this at other programs let alone one that wants to be completing for NCAA bids come March.
This is just a sign to me of missing badly on scholarship players. Why even offer to someone like Tyler if he cant come in right away and be ahead of Jason in the rotation?

Averkamp is not very good, he hustles but his skills are pretty weak....... He is a D2 player also like Ajami.

How can you not consider Kevin Massiah improved from his junior year to senior year? Like I said a few posts earlier, I'd consider Ant improved since being here Paige Paulsen although always a good player definitely improved from junior to senior year, specifically his passing and 3pt shooting. Avery Smith is another name that comes to mind. Although he wasn't a personality many people enjoyed, there is no doubt he made considerable improvement from sophomore to junior year as a player, and from junior to senior year as a person. (I think Jeter played a particularly big part in this when he kicked his @$$ off of the team for a year, and then was gracious enough to give him a second chance) I probably seem like a big Jeter apologist right now, which I am not. But come on, NO players have ever improved under Jeter? It's very simple to point out the ones who didn't improve because it's easy to be fixated on the negatives right now, I'm just trying to point out a few players who have improved.

While Jeter is a student of Bo Ryan, he is no Bo Ryan that is for sure!

I would argue that most of the "improvements" your speaking about were a product of more playing time and thus more oppertunity Rather than them becoming better players. I'll agree with paulsen and to a much lesser extent, franklin but everyone else.... I just don't know about that.

I will say this, Marquette better not get tickets in the lower level of the Cell next year. In fact the allotment that they get should ring the entire top row of the arena!

The difference Paige had from junior to senior year was the fact in his senior year he was actually playing more of his natural position. In his junior year, he was playing more a PF position AND never had a lot of practice time during his transfer year b/c of inury/surgery/rehab. Too bad we couldn't have gotten one more year out of him.

I know others have already alluded to this but I feel compelled once again to re-post the following from last season (Yes, I saved it, and I will continue to post it whenever people start with "Jeter is on shaky ground if he has a bad year" chatter): "I hope that as a program we have turned the corner and that we are looking at a successful season that will end any of this negative discussion, but just so we’re all clear, Rob Jeter will not be “ousted” after this season. Rob Jeter will not be “ousted” after next season. Or the one after that. Or the one after that. You can call for it but it’s not going to happen. Garry Howard can say Jeter “needs” to do something this season but Jeter doesn’t. Without regard to his performance or whether or not he SHOULD be ousted in the next couple of years (I’ll leave that to others to debate), his contract runs through 2013. He is earning a lot of money, at least $400,000 as far as I can see, according to an article in USA today from March of last year. Others may correct me or clarify the amount of Jeter’s compensation but the fact remains he is making a lot of money for a program of our size. That amount will surely climb in the next couple of years. Because of his success in his first season and the interest from Iowa State, Jeter received a very a lucrative extension with generous annual raises included. That’s fine that we could compete with ISU for his services and it was great that we have some generous donors that stepped up and made that possible (as they did with Bruce Pearl’s extension). I just can’t see a scenario where UWM will eat THAT contract and turn around and ask those same donors to pony up more big money to attract another coach for similar financial terms. We have some very generous, committed boosters but not that many and none in the T. Boone Picken's league. I think the only way Rob Jeter will be going anywhere in the next four years, short of some incredible scandal, will be if he enjoys phenomenal success in the next year or two and is wooed away by a big money school-- ala Bruce Pearl to Tennessee. So any discussion or articles implying that this is a “make or break” year for Jeter or that he “needs” to do anything are, in my opinion, simply not accurate for a very simple and obvious reason. Money." Huey, you bring up a VERY important part that too many people love to ignore. It's not like his contract is thrown in the shredder and the university has suddenly washed their hands of his tenure. I don't know any specifics either but it'd be VERY difficult to pay him, the other coaches and an entire new staff. We don't have anywhere near the type of money that Notre Dame does where they can pay $17M to a NFL Offensive Coordinator to not coach there anymore. I'm not advocating Rob to be fired or retained but I ask those of you who do want him fired this question, how do we pay his salary AND another staff's simultaneously? I hope you've got a lucky lotto ticket.

The sky is falling fast. We are 6-4 on the verge of winning less than 10 more games all season........ Some might agree with this statement. I think it is horsesh*t. We haven't hit our stride- but remember, just as individual games are not won on just one or two little runs... the season will be a series of peaks and valleys. It always is and you know that.
We are fortunate to not have dug ourselves in something like a 2-8 hole. What we need is another streak- and to beat at least one (pref 2) of Wisconsin, NDSU, an Miami (OH).
Some might think we may even lose to SIUE... Doubt that, but many gave absolutely no serious thought to GB's ability to beat the Badgers.
Anyone can beat anyone- the odds are often ridiculously long but it happens- every friggin year. If you would have told me that I would end up going to a school that people call "UWM" (I only ever knew it as Milwaukee growing up), and that they would go to the NCAA's 3x in 4 years and reach the Sweet 16 in one of those years, I would have laughed in your face and asked you for the Duke score. (yes, I used to be a huge Bobby Hurley/Jeff Caple/Grant Hill/Steve Wozniak/Coach K/etc.- everything Duke fan- that was ages ago though.. no love for the Dookies nowadays!).
I am not trying to be the anti-Booing police- I think it's healthy and awesome that we still have folks who care enough about this program to voice their frustrations. But I'll also say that I see something coming together- slowly but very purposefully.
If James can get his step and shot back, Ricky can man-up and take charge, and Tony can remember the kind of player he is capable of being.... Boga, McCallum, Souter, Ant (yes I said it- you had to be proud of his effort vs. MU), Averkamp, Deonte, and Ajami (should he find his shot someday...) can fill in the gaps.
It's far, far, from over, and I think UWM will change the tune of this board by midnight on New Years Eve.
All it's gonna take is that first win over someone not named "Colgate" or "Hillsdale". These kids will find their confidence and run with it- just wait and watch. 20 more games folks- and then comes the only run that even counts- the Horizon League Tournament. Until then, think twice about writing off a team who you know has the power to prove you ridiculously wrong.

I feel like in the wake of this lost to Marquette the majority of this board has become a victim of "confirmation bias". What I mean by that is a lot of fans who are pissed about the Marquette loss (and other losses) have already concluded that it's a coaching problem and are alluding to all sorts of theories as to why it’s Robs fault.
With that hypothesis at the forefront of their mind they scurry around to find any piece of evidence that would support/CONFIRM that notion. As uwm97 stated in an earlier post "Sam Mauldin? Gone. Ryan Thornton? Gone. Tyrone Young? Gone. Jason Deutchmann? Gone". It makes perfect sense to list a bunch of players who defected after a year with absolutely no desire to play for this program (or play at all), that Jeter and Co. had no chance to "improve", as long as it confirms the hypothesis that Jeter doesn't improve players.
It's also very logical to ask for examples of Jeter actually improving a player, because if by chance someone gives an example of player who arguably did improve, you can further confirm your bias by statements like "He was always good, Jeter just didn’t know it....It's because he got more opportunities...he was an all-state player coming out of high school....he was playing at a more natural position.....he worked hard in the off-season…etc." How many players in D1 basketball actually improve without one of the above happening? Have the expectations for Jeter risen so much that we assume that he turns walk-ons into all conference players? Did Joah, Boo or Ed improve much under Pearl? Nah, they were pretty good when they got here. Did Tigert or Hill improve? Nah, they got better because they got more opportunities.
So as long as you guys can come up with some sort of excuse as to why a player could not possibly improve under Jeter your theory is flawless.
Do you guys see how ridiculous this is getting? To think that Rob actually inhibits players from improving! I know we are all upset, but this is getting beyond ludicrous.
We aren’t getting rid of Rob anytime soon, it would cost way too much. Might as well make the best of it while he’s here.
