Butler went in one direction. We went in the other direction.

Number one coach in college basketball beats the number one team in OT.
With this victory I have to imagine the former Big East seven will come after Butler hard for the new conference. I would also think that Butler's presence would increase the conference's TV value.
And we struggle against NIU in OT, move ever more to college obscurity in a conference sliding to low mid-major level.

The divergence of these two programs less than two years after meeting in the HL Championship game is pretty amazing.
So far this season, Butler's taken down Marquette, North Carolina, Northwestern, and Indiana. Their two losses were at Xavier and to undefeated, #10 Illinois. We all know how our season has gone.
Quite sad and depressing for us Panthers fans.

Good thing for the remaining Horizon League teams Butler left early for the A10. Butler would own the HL this year, likely would go 18-0 and likely win the conference tournament.

Funny thing is that Butler wouldn't have even had a shot at playing in the HL tournament if they would have stuck around this season, but I doubt they would have gone 18-0. HL teams know them better than anyone.
Still a lot of season left, but today was a ton of fun just to be there watching live.

Forgot, barred from the conference tournament.
Why not 18-0? Who could stop them? Relative to every other team in the HL they simply have too many players that can produce. Two losses this year were to Illinois and Xavier, teams well above the level of any HL team. They would have owned the HL.

Unbelievable. Brad Stevens is a wizard.

Amazing how Brad imbues his players -- even the last man on the bench -- with the confidence to make plays with the game on the line ... and on the biggest stages.
Did anyone truly believe that Butler was going to panic or unravel, even with three key players disqualified by fouls?
I proudly call myself a Bulldog fan.

Examples of what sets great coaches apart. He has trust in the most unlikely players. He never unravels so his players never unravel, they stay as cool as he does.

I was looking at it the other day, because if they can manage to beat Gonzaga they'll move into the Top 10.
They have been in the Top 15 6 of the last 7 years and that would be 4 of the last 6 in the Top 10 with a win on Saturday night.
06/07: Wk 12 #11 07/08: Wk 16 #8 08/09: Wk 13 #11 09/10: Final #2 10/11: Final #2 11/12: Never appeared in Top 25 12/13: Wk 15 #13 (thus far)
