I don't necessarily disagree with you. I think the real point is that there are a lot of teams past the obvious top four in this league who can cause damage on a given night. Let's not forget LU beat Butler two years ago, against all odds. Loyola, Wright, GB and Valpo may not contend for the title this year (although I wouldn't necessarily count Valpo out yet), but they'll have something to say about who wins it.

I think Valpo is firmly in the top 5, pending top 4 if Detroit has the attrition we keep hearing about.
But you're right. On any given night, I expect anyone but Youngstown State to be able to beat anyone in this league.

I would add that someone has to finish just in front of Youngstown State. If not UIC, who but Loyola?
The fact of the matter is that this is a much better league than in our glory years of 2003-06.

The only unattractive league game on the home schedule is Youngstown State. Come to think of it, the only unattractive home game period is Youngstown State ... and perhaps Bowling Green. For myself, I am looking forward to the YSU game. Devonte Maymon and even is laugh mouth dad might be at the Cell.

It's also a better league than it was last year, which is one reason why I'm dead certain we will not see a team go 16-0 in league play again.

Loyola non-league is just OK, with a nice home game versus Kansas State.
I think the last HL team to come out with their schedule is UIC.

Bowling Green is a great for this year, if this is our most unattractive game. Compared to Hillsdale and Cond.- St. Paul from last season.

Agreed. This is our most attractive home schedule in memory.
That includes all the conference games other than Youngstown.
Even the UIC game gets a little extra local juice with The Duck now coaching the Flames.

For me, I'm looking forward to see YSU because of the other Maymon brother.
This is by far UWM's best home schedule. I'm really looking forward to the season.

Averkamp was really impressive against us..Strong finishing moves to the hoop, nice little jump hooks and outside shooting. This guy could be all conference by the time he ends his career. Would have looked great in Black and Gold but understand his decision to attend Loyola with his goal of medical school and all that. I frankly would take him over Tony Meier right now and Kelm although a freshman does not look to have the upside this guy has unless he develops some inside moves and adds a lot of strength.

"I frankly would take him over Tony Meier right now."
Tony has, I think, indisputably been the most consistent player on a very inconsistent team.
Here are his statistics for the year:
27.5 minutes 73 of 139 FGs (52.5 percent) 35 of 81 3PTs (43.2 percent) 39 of 46 FTs (84.6 percent) 95 rebounds (5.0 per game) 220 points (11.6 per game) 31 assists 36 turnovers
Based upon his performance to date, I frankly think that Tony is the player on the team who most warrants (second-team) all-league consideration.
I couldn't be more pleased with the jump Tony's made between his sophomore and junior seasons and look forward with great anticipation to watching him play the next year and a half.

It does bother me in the game versus Loyola, that every shot that Tony Meier took was from three.
