here is the link to the alma mater song. www.johnjaymilwaukee.com/images/PDB/UWM_alma_mater.mp3we need to get this played at the end of the game where alums and students stay, listen, and stand to the song. i think that the lyrics are fine despite this being an almost opera song. haha. but seriously it needs to be played.

I agree. As much as I dislike the song, the Alma Mater needs to be a part of the experience at the end of games.

Would it work to do at the first timeout of the second half or something obscure like that? I'd try and find a time when most people are in their seats, that way maybe it'll be learned by as many people possible?

You'd think so, but the idea of an alma mater song is to be special, and the first timeout of the second half isn't really special.

I just think that the song for the alma mater needs to be rearranged.
It sounds too old-fashioned. Good alma mater songs are timeless.
Look at Varsity from UW-Madison or Crimson and Blue for Kansas. They're timeless.
The lyrics are fine in Alma Mater. They just need to be set to a better score.

i personally hate our alma mater song. it's not even in our play list, i've never played it. it may be stuffed somewhere in the music archives, who knows.
we do play our unofficial alma mater song at the end of every game.... roll out the barrel!

agreed, our real alma mater stinks. Roll out the Barrel should be considered our de facto alma mater and people need to start sticking around for it again.

Tonight was the first time I heard this song.
It sounds exactly like "Oh Canada" with the UWM being pronounced by a newscaster. Terrible.
Here its "dubba U" not "double U".

Personally I didn't think it was terrible and I agree that the Alma Mater needs to be played. Why not here it twice. Once right before the start of the second half (end of halftime--2 mins remaining), and then at the end of each game. I'm not reinventing the wheel on this one as many schools use this exact same format to play their alma maters.
mwu, any chance we will get the band down to Goolsby's before the games. Maybe even just a few guys from the band.

Is there a way we can get the band to play at soccer games? I think the atmosphere would rock if we could have soccer band

the problem is going to be compensation, there aren't as many people in the band like me and mwu who would play at a soccer game out of the kindness of our hearts.

same as for the men. we have a flat rate per game. having a full band being there might be stretching it as tuba pointed out. you all know how much i love soccer, i'm there as much as possible, one thing we really should look in to would be to get a bass drum to the games. time to scour the internet for cheap instruments! some yellow smoke bombs or road flares would be awesome too, get that real game atmosphere.
