Horizon league players never are good at shooting free throws, the best one was Archy and since then you wont find many big guys in this league who are lights out. Jeffers looks really good, he didn't take any out side shots so I cant comment on that. What I can say is he has very high basketball IQ if that means anything. He seems to be every where on the floor. To tell you the truth I had no clue until today he was that close to a triple double. He had like 13 points at the half and I'm guessing about 7 boards. He just looks like a really good player in this league. His movement in the lane is very clean and he can create his own shot. Something Ced Banks had trouble doing. I think when Its all said and done he will be the best all around play I seen at UIC (9 years). Sure you might laugh cause Ced was really good, but Jeffers really bangs in there picks up a ton of boards against a much bigger Robert Morris team.
On the game, RM is really good or they just can hit the three like no other, half of the threes were about four feet outside the arc. The are big and well coached and if not for a few tecs this game would have been won by them. (FYI Magee is playing there now). Ill say this about RM if they were in the horizon league they would at least win 4 games. But to be honest this UIC team will be good come conference time, but this league is very lopsided this year. UWM should easily walk away with it. If they don't take the conference by 4 games I would consider it a disappointment thats how good they should be this year.

ok i'm finally off of work to elaborate on my previous comments. i said what i said b/c Big D seems to be impressed w/ a guy who had to play 95% of a game to achieve those stats. had he played a more average amount of minutes for a starter than yeah they'd be more impressive but they weren't. as for tucker in comparison, he was going through the motions of Jeter's new offense. had Jeter told Joah "we need you to win this game for us" he would've destroyed Parkside but that was not needed of him. come Memphis yeah there will be more flexibility in coaching but until then Jeter wants to make sure everyone knows the offense and wants to see how they respond to someone other than the scout team. the only stats i really care about in the exhibition games are the new guys; Anderson, Young and Massiah and even then i'm not real worried about it. Jeffers' stats are like bragging about a running back who ran for 200 yds but did it on 50-60 carries. same mentality; i hope he did that well considering how much he had to play for it.

It's simple... Joah Tucker didn't HAVE to do anything against Parkside... he had nine other guys that can and will pick up the slack at any time this season. My god, UIC wins by a mere three points in a cakewalk exhibition game! Whoo hoo, watch out world! Somewhere in Chicago, a stirred Jimmy Collins is crying in a dark room, rubbing his red Horizon League Championship ring from two years ago. Shhh, listen... you can hear the screams. "CEDDDRRRIICCKK! CEDDDRRRIICCKK!"

Wait whats your point with this whole thing. Some people seem to forget that your team is bringing back what is it 8 Sr. and 5 Jr. from a Sweet 16 team. I hope you would be able to handle any team put in front of you. If not than there will be problems with the coaching staff. On the other hand UIC is with out a player who is the all time leading score at UIC and a top play maker in Williams. Now in no way do I believe its good that we came close to losing to an NAIA team, but we did lose to Parkside last year, so anything is possible at this point. I think the key note about this years UIC team is its one that is going to grow together and will not be as easy to predict since we cant just go to one player any more. This will be an interesting year indeed. But like I said before should not be much of a contest for a team like UWM with four returning starters. Oh one more thing a wins a win. Even if we need to play our guys all 40 minutes I would rather do that then lose any game. It's simple... Joah Tucker didn't HAVE to do anything against Parkside... he had nine other guys that can and will pick up the slack at any time this season. sounds like alot of excuses already.....sounds like sh*tty recruiting on your coaches part, if you have to complain about your best player leaving....UWM had the same thing happen to us year after year, tucker, page, mccants and our coaches continue to find the gems that turn into the next HORIZON LEAGUE PLAYERS OF THE YEAR......i think thats where your guys problems lie.....with good old mr. collins.....but yeah good luck and i cant wait to see if your boy jeffers can run the court with us for 40 mins of a game....you boys better be ready to run with the depth we got..look out

CEDDDRRRIICCKK!" I find it quite funny that UWM fans are ripping on a player coming through in the clutch to help his team to a win....regardless of who it's against. You act like it's some sort of crime for players to make plays. Oh, by the way, he apparently didn't have to play super hard to win the game....he only scored one actual basket in the second half....he had a couple free-throws, but almost all of his buckets happened in the first half...the second half was assists and FTs.... and, jeff2bag, c'mon....do you know anything about Jimmy's recruiting? He recruits studs year in and year out. Granted, he's not the best coach, but our talent is solid. You would've had a major run for your money had Bailey been around last year. You complain about us mentioning our loss of Banks and Armond (a huge part of our scoring and rebounding)? Fine, then next year, when you lose half your team, I don't want to hear any complaints....because your reign at the top will be over....hopefully your 7 PGs will be able to pick up right where you leave off this year

I'm not saying that the players we have are awful either. I think for the most part they can compete night in night out. But lets face it not to many teams in this conference are going to be able to handle UWM, but then again after this year will UWM still be the same team after losing almost everyone. BP brought this team to its greatness after many others could not right the ship. But again do I think UIC will be able to hang with UWM well Ill be honest not a chance. UWM will put a ton of pressure on our team, and we probably lose both games by double digits. This is a year of building for UIC, not sure why I am defending this cause really one game means absolutely nothing. We will see at the end of this year if things can be turned around but my money is on UWM to win the conference by 4 games over LU. And this by far is not an excuse how many on this board really thought UIC was going to be that good this year anyways? My guess is not many!
