Box Score: Detroit 56, UIC 48uicflames.ocsn.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/010304aaa.html UIC's performance anything but pretty Stars shut down in 3rd straight lossBy Bill Jauss Tribune staff reporter January 3, 2004, 9:18 PM CST Coach Perry Watson and guard James Thues both used the word "beauty" Saturday to describe the way Detroit Mercy beat Illinois-Chicago 56-48 at the Pavilion. Thues helped hold UIC's 18.8-points-per-game scorer, Cedrick Banks, to 1-of-8 shooting and four points while alternating on him with three other defenders. "A beauty of our team," Thues said, "is that wherever I went guarding Banks, I had a teammate helping me out. It's fun to play in a defense like that."
