Who do you think will be the Pre Season Player of the Year next year? Joah Tucker or Brandon Cotton?? My vote, goes to Tucker! But Brandon Cotton is one hell of a player!

That's going to be a toss-up.
In February, I would've said Cotton. Now after the NCAA run, all the attention Joah got and the way he played against bigger teams ... likely will go to Joah.
Would probably throw Blake Schlib into the equation too. But these types of pre-season awards usually favor seniors.

Joah
1. NCAA Tournament experience showed joah's game is and can be elevated. leaving the other players mentioned above with out that experience. 2. Joah tested his 3 point range this year. Not the best 3 point shooter but he proved he can hit the 3. 3. Joah has the most starting experience. That goes along with the point that preseason POY year usually is a sr. 4. 32 points against Ill/21 points against Bama/23 points against BC 5. Media darling, weather or not he decides to go to the NBA will boost his stock to the voters. The fact that he is considered or considering to play shows his talent an caliber. 6. Jeter has been quoted as "Were going to want to get to the line more often." it wont effect voting that much, but this shows the voters that UWM will revolve around paint play. AKA switch to a Tucker offense. 7. 6th in scoring in the HL in contention with schilb and cotton 8. Joah is a pimp. enough said.

Who votes for POY honors? Is it coaches, or media? If coaches, i have to believe Joah will be pre-season POY. If its the media, I think Cotton or Schlib are just as likely.

Joah's play this season always seemed to be overlooked. even the his tourney game greatness quickly became overlooked by bruce's departure. could tucker be overlooked for preseason POY? wouldn't doubt it. that is if hes still around...

Don't get me wrong Joah is a great player, but is he good enough to be pre season poy? I think not. What about Sean May? What about Brandon Cotton? Or any of the players who had an impact ont he teams that made the final four? Yes Joah helped us out alot in the tounrey, but come on do you think he will be a lottery pick now as well? I love the Panthers, and have been following them since I was young in Ray Perine, Marc Briggs, Pat Schultz days etc.... but be realistic.... kill this thread now!

Ummm, last time I checked, we were talking about the Horizon League POY. It will be down to three players, Joah, Cotton and Schilb. I really can't think of anyone returning that deserves to be considered other than those three. Also, I don't think you can go wrong by choosing any of those three. All great players. All the leaders of teams that will likely be in the top four in the conference.

I think Joah has the edge over Cotton, although Schilb may have the edge over both of them.
I feel very confident that Cotton will be the POY after the season, however.

I will defend UWMballer and note that nowhere in the thread does it say "Horizon League Pre-Season Player of the Year". but it was obvious to all us that assumed we were talking about the Horizon League, since Joah nor Cotton would have any chance in the world at NCAA POY.

I think preseason will be Tucker, but watch, by the end of the year, if teams don't focus on Schlib and try to shut him down, he will be poy. Tucker is great, but if anyone has the ncaa games as well as the Horizon league tourney games, they will see that alot of Tuckers points have come from going down to the offensive side of the court as soon as the other team puts up a shot. I'm not saying that he cherry picks, but, Schlib creates alot more than Tucker does, and if he can carry loyola to 2 or 3rd in the league, he will be poy.

"Who is this Pat Schultz that you speak of?" I think UWMBaller is combining Joe Schulz and Pat Easterlin, two players who played just about the same role in during the Antrim years. (Kind of like Justin Pancratz)
