with all this doherty talk about him being on campus and the dohoerty this and the doherty that i came across this in the milwaukee journal.
As of Friday, Jeter and Dunlap were the only two candidates to have been interviewed for the job. It is possible that more candidates might be interviewed in St. Louis,.
thats scary. i thought matt d was the man everyone wanted. he was here for 3 days. and we cant even get him a mention in the journal.
the article is mostly about Jeter and him and his life and this is what he had to say about our 3 ball.
I don't know how I feel about jacking up the first three-pointer, but I definitely would want to push the ball."
i know that means doherty still can be interviewed but with people saying hes been on campus, and interviews have been happening in st louis. isnt that quit trouble some. i know that everything still works out seeing how he could be checking out the facilities and then he will interview. anyways. just a little scare bc Doherty is the man for us next year.

I dont care who we have interviewed...but... JUST SAY NO TO JETER! That would set the program back and would only continue to keep UWM as little brother.

Your new coach is likely to be Mike Dunlap from Metro State
Got this from a guy (who will remain unnamed) that interviewed for the HC position this week.
Dunlap is a great hire. I think you will like him.

Am I the only one in world that thought if Steve Lavin was at all interested in the job we should make a serious run at him?
I know mining the D2 & D3 level worked out great with Bo Ryan and Bruce Pearl, but Lavin is a proven winner and big time recruiter at the D1 level with UCLA.
And since they ran him out of there he's been on ESPN in front of every high school kid in the country.
I was very concerned to read Jeter's comments about not shooting the 3. His local recruiting ties would be nice, but I'm starting to think that if we're going to bring in an assistant, the guy from Louisville may be one to take a hard look at.

i talked to an insider within the university who talks with Bud quite a bit and they said it was Jeter as an almost lock to be the coach. Was he offered the job over Bruce back before we hired pearl?

I would be happy with either Doherty or Mike Dunlap, however, if we end up hiring Jeter I feel like its a MAJOR step backwards and we will basically become the badgers JV team. Hopefully we make a smart choice in the upcoming few days.

I would prefer dunlap to all mentioned coaches to date, I agree that Jeter would be a serious step back.....I am friends with someone from the deane team when he was an assistant and he hates his guts.....several physical confrontations.....putting his hands on players.....hopefully bud passes again....

Why all the hatred towards jeter? he is a proven winner, and can recruit?

I agree with bball30 and am really confused by why everyone doesn't like Jeter so much. I've been snooping around Bagernation trying to pick out how they feel about Rob and it comes off that they would be sad to see him go, and feel he is going to be a great coach. I know Jeter hasn't won anything and Doherty would be a better coach immediatly, but would it really be that bad if he ended up being coach? A quote from Badgernation: "As someone who went to school with Robbie I would think this would be a big loss. Platteville was a small school in the middle of nowhere with a 98% white population. This created a certain amount of racial tension between the student body & some black ball players, including Robbie's brother Carlton. I watched Robbie difuse more than one possible conflict between white football players & black B-ball players. I point this out to show his ease at dealing with any person of any background. Everyone respected & liked Robbie, Everyone!! Don't forget that Crean probably owes Jeter as much as any other person for his success. It was Robbie that first discovered a young & unrecruited Dwayne Wade. It was because of Robbie's intial interest that Wade felt loyal to Marquette even after the big schools came calling. There were other great guys on Bo's Platteville teams. Guys I could see becoming good coaches, but none impressed me as much as Robbie." also more threads on Jeter and UWM: mb7.scout.com/fwisconsin36703frm4.showMessage?topicID=4631.topicmb7.scout.com/fwisconsin36703frm4.showMessage?topicID=4540.topic

I hear that it more than likely will be Dunlap from Metro State. This coming from a basketball player that I know...it's not yet official but he has the inside track...

Talked to a source that was just returning from the final four today. They said that UWM was very impressed with Rob Jeter as well as the assistant coach from Creighton. Not saying they are getting the job, but my guess is this next week expect to see both on campus for interviews and a tour along with Dunlap with possibly a hire by the end of the week. Don't be surprised if one of them has such a great visit that they hire him on the spot and cancel the other visits.
My personal thoughts on Coach Jeter coming from a formal player of his at UWM. Whoever said that former players didn't like Jeter as a coach is completely wrong. First, Rob is a great recruiter, he can continue to tap into the Chicago area because he has so many contacts down there because he grew up down there. Also, I do admit that Jeter is an intense coach, but I can only thank him and Coach Ryan for installing that "tough guy" personality in me which resulted in minutes on the floor. He teaches the intangibles of basketball well (i.e. taking a charge, digging up to strip the ball from the other team after a rebound, diving on the floor, crashing the offensive glass). The biggest difference in Jeter from B.P. is Pearl was more of a players coach. Jeter would be a great coach for the program because I could also see him sticking around for a while. Don't be caught off guard in his quote in the JS about not shooting the first 3, because in Coach Ryans offense we averaged about 8 makes a game just like Pearl and put up around 22-24 of them.
