I just want to say that I thought the student section was great last night! You guys came out in full force (good numbers), were loud, and overall very into the game. There were times that they even tried to get some of the "chairbacks" up and out of their seats! Also, it was great to see that nearly everyone in the student section had on some kind of UWM gear - much of which was yellow..........looked good guys! On a side note, I sat on the other side of court last night and had a chance to better see the band. Like the student section, I thought the band did a great job! They were into the game, and loud....nicely done. Further, the director was very animated and tried his best to get people cheering/making noise. Hats off to you as well!

this replay does not apply to all in the student section, and i just dont want to hear negative comments from our students when are team is not making shots. and another issue, the chant "shoot em like a horse" that is totally uncalled for and think that should be stopped all together! i think most students will agree taht that chant is horrible! we are trying to win a basketball game not wish injuries on anyone! If anyone hears anything like, please urge them not to say taht kind of stuff, our student section, vulgar at times ;D, shoud be a little classy!

I couldn't agree more. First, like pnthr30 said, GREAT JOB LAST NIGHT STUDENTS!!!! No doubt you guys were able to help lift our team while they were down.
But, at the same time, the "horse" cheer needs to stop. Simply stated, it's classless and to be honest, as much as I've heard us harp on Jimmy Collins for flipping off the crowd, I think that cheer is even more classless than Jimmy's antics. Have some respect for a player. Why do you think every coach and player made sure to applaud when an opponent gets up after suffering an injury. You never wish injury on anyone, I don't care who it is.
The cheer needs to stop, immediately.

i'd also like to praise the students once again. that's 3 in a row! the past three games have been packed, loud, and for the most part together. well done. there's nothing "mid-major" about the 2,000 or so students a game that are really starting to bring it. and we know it will only get better in the tourney! ;D
for the record, we sit very close to the student section and never heard the "shoot em like a horse" if it did go on...

These last three games have been great, our students need to fill it up like that all season rather than just the last leg. But hey, everyone was awesome, I've had more fun in the last four games (counting Loyola) than I've had at sporting events my whole life.
But we need to be positive all the time. The "Horse" chant is usually coming from about 10 guys on the left-side of the section... it's not nearly as loud with the place filled and that's why you can't really hear it anymore. Thank god... everytime I hear it I put my head down, nothing could be more distasteful. And I did see one guy on the first row, right in front of the Panther bench that was ripping the players for missing assignments on defense and missing shots and that's just plain stupid. Our style of play is up-tempo and our shooting percantages are going to take a bit to warm up some nights, be patient, be supportive. Let's take these guys to the dance!!! GO PANTHERS!

My tickets are mid court and I heard it chanted twice by one voice, not like the whole section was doing it. Hopefully he stopped because others told him to shut it or maybe because he was the only idiot doing it.

It wsa a great showing numbers wise but ot be honest with you I was not that impressed last night. I know we can do better and we have and come tourney time we will again. Last night there were several times when I looked over and they were quiet and doing nothing or cheering nothing. I know we were down but thats when we need them most. The beginning of hte game they were not very loud either....Either way it was great numbers out there but I konw we can do better and we will...Great game last night and great comeback, it shows the true character of the team

I was nervously waiting for the 'horse' chant to start. Thankfully I did not hear it up in 324 section. Otherwise it was damn nice to see the full section.
A couple times the chants seemed to be offsetting. right side was chanting, left side was clapping.
Nothing big, and not complaining, just observing. Love it all as long as it is LOUD.

I was near the retard that was saying that and all of us around the area told him to shut up because he is being a fu*&in idiot.

yeah, that seems to be the largest problem with our student section, there is a huge split in cheers between the right and left side! i know it has been mentioned before, i just with there was something taht we could do to get the whole student section in unison! that would be awesome! I already try to dictate most of the cheers on the left side of the student section! I try to grab the attention of the right side as well. sometimes i am successful, and other times it is hopeless! What can i say, the students that usually cheer in unison are the ones that show up to all the games, than there are the Students that well... just startined showing up like last week and don't really know what is going on! im gald they come and would encourage all of them to come more often, we jsut need a little organization,

the cheers i started seemed to pick up very well. I was on my usuall left side. When a group of 4 guys gets in the ears of the band, the band usually picks up the cheer right away. the band can do wonder for a cheer bc they have drum sticks and stuff to hit with those sticks. SOmething to think about for the tournament. other wise we should devise a type of telepathy or a cheer sheet so the people on the board can all sync up durring a cheer so we can keep the crowd togteher. it is discouraging to be doing your own cheer and then you hear the right side of your crowd and everyone isnt sure what to do. this way we can also prevent any unwanted cheers.
oh and from now on, we need to start out the UWM cheer slower and not get so progressivly faster. the crowd dies down the faster as it gets. just a pacing thing
other wise.
i believe UWM home games are now catching on and most people are going due to word of mouth which is great.
heres to the the student section.

As an idea, maybe among us on this board we can volunteer to dedicate to one side of the section and get things in order. Rather than having all die hards in the left side, spread them across the whole front. People mimic what's in front of them, not was going on to their left.

Great idea Krazie, but that would require some of the other hardcores to stop predrinking a bit earlier and get down to the game sooner, I know that I have been guilty of this many of times. I will be down in front really early for both tournament games. That means I will have to shove as many adult beverages in me before I leave ;D I think if we had what we did last year, when Nate was on one side and Devin on the other it will work out pretty good.
