UWM claims 82-74 win over Detroit Jan. 5, 2004
MILWAUKEE - In a game of comebacks, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee withstood the final one.
Detroit scored the first 13 points of the game, only to see UWM grab a one-point lead by halftime. The Panthers then led by as many as 14 points in the second half before the Titans rallied to within three on several occasions.
But, in the end, a three by Ed McCants with the shot clock running down restored the Panthers' lead to six with 1:30 remaining and UWM held on for an 82-74 win over Detroit Monday night at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

'Tis the season for holiday hangovers, and UW-Milwaukee's team basketball came out nursing a doozy Monday night.
The Panthers missed their first eight shots and found themselves on the short end of a 13-0 score to open their Horizon League contest with Detroit. Plop, plop, fizz, fizz?
No Alka Seltzer was needed, but a good tongue-lashing from coach Bruce Pearl fixed what ailed the Panthers. UWM rallied for an 82-74 victory that kept them atop the Horizon League standings at 2-0, as well as 7-5 overall.

Titans Comeback Falls Short at UWM, 82-74January 5, 2004
Senior guards Rulon Harris and Jimmy Twyman combined for 31 points and sparked a valiant second-half comeback effort, but it wasn't enough to keep UDM from falling at UW-Milwaukee on Monday night, 82-74.
Harris notched 16 points - just two shy of his personal best - while adding a career-high eight assists. Twyman poured in 15 points on the wings of five three-point baskets. Together they sparked a 14-3 run midway through the second half that saw the Titans cut a 14-point deficit down to three, 68-65, with four minutes left. Detroit, though, could draw no closer the rest of the way.
The Titans - who squandered a 13-point first half lead of their own - fell to 7-5 and 1-1 in Horizon League play. Milwaukee is also 7-5, but advanced to 2-0 in the conference standings. Forward Dylan Page led the Panthers with 24 points, while guard Ed McCants was right behind with 22. The 82 points scored by Milwaukee was the most by any Titan opponent this season.
