What else can the fans do?
Stop buying things that say anything but Milwaukee Panthers on it, and tell the bookstore why.

Personally I don't have a problem being referred to as UW-Milwaukee or UWM. I know why some associated with our university don't want the hypenated label but I just don't see it as that big of a deal. I respect the ideas of those who are trying to push to have the hyphen eliminated from our name, but don't we have bigger fish to fry in terms of the university improving our academic setting (research), improving fundraising (nice job Santiago), and improving our athletic programs.

We do, but this doesn't take so much time that it cannot be done concurrently with everything else.
And I never said get rid of UWM - the acronym is an advantage. But UW-Milwaukee sounds at the same level as UW-Marathon County, and you and I both know this isn't the case.
As the second flagship institution, this school deserves a name that separates it from the rest of the system, along with UW-Madison getting to call themselves Wisconsin.

Nice piece, Jimmy. It's apparent to me that the onus is on the Athletic department to push this through. There wasn't nearly the amount of time or financial dedication given to this issue by UWM compared to Charlotte, so the end of result of the status quo shouldn't come as unexpected. The lack of follow-through by the powers-that-be is very disappointing.
