I'm hoping so. There's just a ton of talent in that class with no less than a dozen kids getting D-I scholarships. However, we're projected to have 7 scholarships available in 2010, so we'll have to look outside the state to fill a couple of those at least. Kyle Kelm could turn into a high major player as he currently has a lot of interest from schools like Iowa State, Minnesota, Providence, Notre Dame...just to name a few. I think our main targets right now appear to be Kelm, Gasser and Rank.

we'll probably throw a few JUCOs in there to balance out the roster. that or we'll grab a few who'll redshirt.

Don't sleep on Kam Cerroni. He was one of the top scorers in Wisconsin as just a sophomore, and he's translated that skill against top national talent in the AAU circuit this offseason ala Travis Diener for the Wisky Playground Warriors back in 2000-2001.

Marquis Mason would be a pretty ideal mid major power forward. I don't know if he retained his Marquette offer with the coaching staff change. Supposedly Flavien Davis didn't, so Mason shouldn't have also. He's not really an adept outside shooter, nor ball-handler, and his quickness would probably be medicore for the position; so I think him playing small forward at the high major level isn't feasible. And he's only 6-5, so power forward is likely out of the question too. But that would be big enough relative to other power forwards in the Horizon. And he'd just be too quick and explosive for guys at that level. Also, his jumper at least extends out to mid-range.

Calvin Godfrey is another in state player who is receiving accolades from the AAU circuit. He's 6-7 and plays like center though. He might be tall enough for the Horizon. Or he could play power forward next to a Tigert or Paulsen skilled big forward. Godfrey isn't particularly skilled himself, but he's an athletic, rugged player who can swat some shots and rebound.

I definitely think it would be prudent for Jeter to place the majority of his recruiting focus in 2010, on the state of Wisconsin. It's a loaded class!

We have several threads on the UW Recruiting Planet Message Board, consolidating information on many recruits who may also be of interest to UWM fans also. I'll link a few for cross-referencing:

Kyle Kelm: http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/wi....-kyle-kelm.html

Josh Gasser: http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/wi....osh-gasser.html

Kameron Cerroni: http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/wi....on-cerroni.html

Marquis Mason: http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/wi....quis-mason.html

Chip Rank: http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/wi....-chip-rank.html

Also, here's an in state recruiting tracker: http://www.recruitingplanet.com/forum/wi....er-tracker.html

Per Mark Miller, Marquis Mason has been offered by UWM. He's also receiving interest from UW for football.

Also, Mason plays on the Wisconsin Swing club as well.

Has anyone here seen him play?

I like the size and athleticism mentioned.

The recruitment for Chip Rank has now taken an interesting twist...Lance Randall, formerly of Oshkosh North and Loyola Chicago has just been announced as the Head Basketball coach, Asst AD and Dean of Students at Cedarburg High School. That can't bode well.

Randall was at Oshkosh West. I doubt we will get any of our initial 2010 targets.

If this program is going to return to respectability, it can ill-afford to continue to allow rival schools (ie Loyola) to come in here pluck away our talent. Especially talent that we've identified as being critical.

Agreed. Especially not the Loyolas of the world. I hope this trend doesn't continue, Loyola is almost the trendy pick right now for mid major wisc preps. Landing a Mason type player would no doubt help lessen the blow of losing averkamp

If we can keep getting in-state top-10 players like Riley Walker, I'll be less worried.

But freak is right...his time succeeding his father at OSW and now Cedarburg will help Loyola, not us. Lance Randall is no friend to this program.

Being right down near to loop in chicago, Loyola's location is attactive.

2010 recruits? That seems so far away.

East side of milwaukee is way more attractive than anywhere in chicago. Chicago is kind of a dump.
